This client's mother had been an antiques dealer and so the daughter wanted a new bed and tables but with an antique aesthetic-a King George III aesthetic. I found a wonderfully figured headboard and a piece of crotch Mahogany for the table tops. The mattress of the bed, since the client did not want a box spring, is supported by slats with a support system running down the middle from the head to the foot. The headposts are turned and reeded by hand. Period bed bolts secure the rails to the posts. The tables are not identical, but matched to the purposes for which they would be used on either side of the bed. The finish is oil and shellac.
