Tiger Maple Tavern Table

Built of striking Tiger maple, this table measures 27 x 18 on top, and is 24" high.

In the book "The New Fine Points Of American Furniture" by Israel Sack, there is pictured a phenomenal early tavern table that has always captured my attention. In need of a small table for my display, I took the opportunity to make a similar table. The original has a painted base but I chose to use this spectacularly figured Tiger Maple for all parts. The legs rake in two directions, as on the original. The joints are held by draw-bored pegs. The finish is oil and shellac.
