Scanlon Slant Top Desk
Tiger Maple slant top desk with gallery, prospect door, and pigeon hole with drawers and secret compartment. Hardware is from Optimum and the finish is two stains, linseed oil, and shellac.
Years before inquiring about my Cherry Queen Anne tall chest of drawers, Mrs. Scanlon had seen it and had been interested in it. When she did inquire about it, the chest had already been sold. So, we designed a very similar chest made of Walnut. Upon receiving that piece, she asked about a slant top desk. Coincidentally, I had recently purchased, even before it had been dried, a set of tiger maple boards over 20". Two of those boards became this desk.
