Philadelphia Tavern Table

This table measures 62" long by 32" wide. The rails and stretchers are fitted to the legs with mortise and tenon joinery, the medial stretcher has a round molded into the top with a molding plane, and the rails and medial stretcher have a scratched bead along the bottom. The breadboard ends are attached with five long tenons and draw-bored pegs that are through elongated holes in the outer four tenons, allowing for seasonal movement. The finish is oil and a thin application of shellac.

At the time of the nation's founding, Philadelphia taverns would have hosted citizens of the city and other colonies around tables such as this one. It is made of Walnut that I harvested and air dried. This table is perfect for a small dining table, or a study table, or a large accent table.
