These chairs were a commission based on an original held at Winterthur. It was a special privilege to be allowed to examine the original, along with the client. Based on that examination, I built these chairs, emulating the original joinery, hand carving all parts, and finishing the chairs with oil and wax. I upholstered the slip seat with jute webbing, horse hair, cotton batting, and a cover fabric of Italian damask.
