I was looking at an old timber framed barn wondering if any of the timbers could be salvaged when my eye caught piles of lumber in the barn next to it.  I asked if I could look at the lumber and I found some old Mahogany, Cherry, and Walnut that had been air drying in that barn in rural Indiana.  I asked if I could purchase some of the lumber and the owners agreed.  The bookcase is built of that Mahogany. It has ball and claw feet, fixed shelves joined with dovetails, a top joined to the sides with a housed, tapered dovetail, and it is finished with oil and shellac.
