The work of Nathaniel Gould in Salem, MA has recently been thoroughly studied and catalogued, resulting in a beautiful published book. This bombe bureau is heavily inspired by his masterful bombe bureaus. Commissioned by a client in New Jersey, this bureau is made of Walnut which I harvested, took to the sawyer and had milled, and then air dried for 4 years. Its distinguishing features include contoured drawers with handcut dovetails, feet and shell pendant that I carved, and drawer fronts that I veneered with my own shop cut veneer so that I could create the crotch Walnut repetition and symmetry on the front of the piece. The brasses, escutcheons, and locks are from Londonderry Brasses.
